Madhyapur Thimi-7, Nagadesh – The annual ‘Kha Pihang Waigu’ Jatra was celebrated on Thursday night in Nagadesh, following the traditional practice of taking out the procession from the palace courtyard of Nagadesh on the night of Vijaya Dashami, the tenth day of Dashain.
The jatra begins from the Malla-era palace in Nagadesh. At the end of the procession, participants perform “Bhuinfersi”—striking the Kubindo (a symbolic object) at the Siddhi Ganesh temple grounds—so the festival is also referred to as “Bhuinfersi Palegu” Jatra.
During the procession, led by Pama Nayo (Chief Naike), participants dressed as Malla-era soldiers wore iron helmets and carried swords, spears, and shields, also demonstrating martial skills.
The Kubindo struck at Siddhi Ganesh temple is later distributed as prasad and taken to households.
This year, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality supported the jatra with materials such as shields and helmets. Local representatives, including Mayor Surendra Shrestha, actively participated in the festival.
