The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has decided to suspend long-distance transport services for three days.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall is expected over the next three days, prompting the authority to take preventive action.
The authority stated in a notice:
“To mitigate potential disaster risks such as floods, landslides, inundation, and other hazards that may arise due to heavy and extremely heavy rainfall, all long-distance vehicles from districts in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces entering or exiting the Kathmandu Valley will be suspended on Asoj 18, 19, and 20, 2082.”
During this period, transport operators and others are urged not to operate long-distance vehicles except for essential services. District Chief Officers and security agencies of the concerned districts are also requested to enforce, monitor, and supervise the suspension of vehicle movement.
