Nepal, currently preparing for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers, registered a convincing 6-wicket victory over Oman in their first warm-up match.
In Saturday’s game, Oman set a target of 111 runs, which Nepal comfortably chased down in 17 overs, losing only 4 wickets.
Opener Aasif Sheikh led the chase with a brilliant half-century, scoring 61 runs. Skipper Rohit Paudel contributed 25 runs, while Kushal Bhurtel and Kushal Malla added 11 and 10 runs respectively.
Earlier, batting first, Oman managed to score 110 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal’s bowlers were impressive, with Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Dipendra Singh Airee each claiming two wickets.
The Nepali team is currently in Oman for the World Cup Qualifiers and is engaged in warm-up matches. In the group stage of the qualifiers, Nepal will face Kuwait and Japan. The top team from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, from where the top three sides will secure a place in the T20 World Cup next year.
