Long-Distance Bus Services Temporarily Suspended in Morang to Manage Dashain Rush

Morang – In an effort to manage the heavy passenger rush during the Dashain festival, the District Administration Office (DAO), Morang has announced the temporary suspension of long-distance bus services.

Issuing a public notice on Friday, the DAO stated that bus services will remain halted until challenges related to passenger crowd management, security, and ticketing issues are resolved.

The suspension particularly affects buses departing from major bus parks in Biratnagar, Rangeli, Belbari, and Pathari-Shanishchare, which usually travel along the East-West Highway to various destinations across the country.

The administration assured that passengers who have already purchased advance tickets for Dashain will be provided alternative arrangements in coordination with the transport entrepreneurs’ association to minimize inconvenience.

Officials said the decision was prompted by growing complaints of overcharging, overloading passengers beyond seat capacity, and black-marketing of tickets amid the festive rush. However, transport entrepreneurs in Morang expressed concern that the decision may further inconvenience travelers.

The DAO further stated that long-distance bus services will only resume after necessary preparations are completed to ensure passenger safety and smooth travel in the long term.
