In Sunsari, the water flow at the Kosi Barrage has surpassed 486,000 cusecs. Security officials reported that the water level has risen up to the bridge of the barrage on the Saptakoshi River.
At 10:30 AM, the water flow was measured at 486,760 cusecs per hour. All 56 gates of the Kosi Barrage have been opened.
According to the Provincial Police Office, both canals have been closed as the water flow increased. Authorities have warned nearby residents to stay alert as the Saptakoshi River has exceeded the caution level. Movement of vehicles and people on the barrage has been restricted.
Last year in Ashoj, the water flow was measured at 557,000 cusecs per second. This is the highest flow recorded since 1968. Previously, in 1987, the flow was recorded at 523,771 cusecs.
