Prime Minister Sushila Karki has convened a meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 AM.
According to Dinesh Prasad Bhatt, Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the meeting was called by the Prime Minister to address urgent disaster-related concerns.
He informed that the council meeting will make important decisions regarding effective relief distribution, reconstruction of infrastructures damaged by floods and landslides, and the arrangement of both temporary and permanent housing for victims.
Bhatt further stated that due to the continuous rainfall, floods and landslides have so far claimed 45 lives, left 6 people missing, and injured 24 others who are currently receiving treatment. The injured are being treated free of cost in coordination with the administration office, while food supplies and other necessary support are being provided to the affected families.
He also added that search and rescue operations are still ongoing in some areas, and the complete details of the human and property losses from floods and landslides are yet to be finalized.
