The tradition of receiving Tika continued on Friday, the second day of Dashain. Following the Vijaya Dashami rituals, where the red Tika—a symbol of auspiciousness—and Jamara—a symbol of prosperity—are applied by elders, people continued visiting relatives to receive Tika today. After applying the sacred offerings at home or in the puja room for nine days of worship, Thursday saw families performing Tika ceremonies, while Friday brought more activity to the markets as people went to relatives’ homes.
