Two ministers of the current government are preparing to visit Ilam today to observe the landslide-affected areas. Continuous rainfall in the eastern hilly and Terai districts has caused a sharp rise in the water level of the Saptakoshi River. According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, the water flow measured at 11:00 AM today was 510,960 cusecs per second, which later increased to 533,540 cusecs per second. Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides in Panchthar district, killing two people and injuring three others. According to the District Police Office, the landslides occurred in different locations on Saturday night following heavy downpours, causing loss of life and property. Police reported that a landslide buried the house of 79-year-old Kanchhi Maya Sherma of Tumbewa Rural Municipality–4, killing her on the spot. Similarly, 17-year-old Misek Nembang of Phalgunanda Rural Municipality–3 died after being swept away by the Nibu Khola.
